What an hour on the throttle costs in Dubai, Mallorca, Miami or Moorea. Which rides go out with a guide and which hand you the keys. Reviews of the jet ski tours and rentals you can book anywhere in the world.
Four rides that explain why people book a ski instead of a boat.
A reef run in the Whitsundays, the Burj Al Arab from the water, a lagoon in French Polynesia and a Mallorcan cove circuit. What each costs and what riders say afterwards.
01The long runWhitsundays Guided Jet Ski TourTwo hours of open water between the Whitsunday islands, guide out front, nobody else on the throttle. The trip everything else gets measured against.
02The city rideJetski to Burj Arab-Atlantis w Pic, Video & IcecreamOut past the Burj Al Arab and the Palm with photos taken for you. Thirty minutes is enough to see why this one out-sells every other ride on the site.
03The lagoonMoorea Solo or Twin 3 hours Jet Ski TourMoorea inside the reef, where the water runs turquoise and knee-deep for hundreds of metres. Three hours, solo ski or two up.
04The cove circuitLos Deltas Jet Ski TourOut of Palma along the cliffs to Los Deltas, cutting into coves a boat cannot reach. Best before the afternoon breeze fills in.
Spain hires out more jet skis than any coast on this site.
Three Spanish waters, three completely different rides: Balearic cliff coves, Atlantic swell off the Canaries, and the flat Costa strips where you can be on a ski twenty minutes after deciding to.
Six harbours that hire out more skis than anywhere else.
A Gulf skyline, a warm bay in Florida, two Mediterranean island coasts, a Jamaican beach strip and a limestone archipelago in the Andaman Sea. Six places to launch, and the best ride in each.
Dubai turned a jet ski into a sightseeing tour.
Nowhere else puts a hotel shaped like a sail, a man-made palm and the tallest building in the world along one thirty-minute run. Guides shoot the photos while you ride, most launches sit ten minutes from the Marina towers, and the water is warm enough to fall in without flinching.
Guided run, bare rental, or a ski to yourself.
Every jet ski rental →
The listing decides your day more than the destination does. A guided run sets the route and the pace and needs no paperwork. A rental hands you a machine and a boundary line. A private booking buys the guide, the timing and the photos. Prices below are per head where the operator quotes that way.

A ski, a bay and a time limit
You get the machine, a briefing and an area you are allowed to ride in. Cheapest way onto the water, and the one that suits riders who have done it before.
The jet ski rides riders queue for.
Every ride we have reviewed →More people book these than anything else on the water, and each one earns the slot for a different reason.

What a jet ski actually costs, hour by hour.
Every ride on the site grouped by the price of a seat. Short rentals sit at the bottom, half-day island safaris at the top, and the middle is where most people end up.
Twenty and thirty-minute rentals, beach-strip rides and the water-sports bundles that throw in a banana boat.
Licence, age limit, deposit, wind. The four things that stop a booking.
Guided runs almost never ask for a licence, because the guide is legally in charge of the group. Bare rentals are the ones to read twice: some are sold licence-free on restricted machines, others expect a boat licence you do not have. Operators set their own minimum age to drive and a lower one to ride pillion. Most rentals hold a deposit or a card imprint until the ski comes back in one piece. And wind decides everything, which is why the morning slots go first and afternoon trips get moved.
An island is the right distance for a jet ski.
Far enough to feel like a crossing, close enough to be back for lunch. Langkawi threads limestone stacks, Phuket strings six islands into a morning, Key West runs a full lap of the island and the Whitsundays put a reef beach at the far end.
Every island run →In Jamaica and the Bahamas the ski is the taxi.
Reef water at bath temperature, short runs off the beach and a parasail winch waiting at the end of most of them. Montego Bay and Nassau sell more combinations than straight rides, so read what is bundled before you pay.

Three things a jet ski gets you that a boat never will.
Sunset from the middle of a bay with the engine off, a reef shelf too shallow for a hull, and a beach with no jetty and no other way in.

Sunset runs
The wind usually drops with the sun, which is why the flattest water of the day often arrives twenty minutes before sunset. Operators run these as short loops and cut the engines somewhere out in the bay. Take the polarised sunglasses off before you look for the horizon, and expect the ride back in half-light.

Snorkel stops
A ski draws inches, so a guide can park two of them on a reef shelf that no dive boat is allowed near. Masks come along in a dry bag, the stop lasts twenty minutes to half an hour, and you climb back on wet. Bora Bora and Koh Samui run the best of them, over rays and reef fish rather than coral gardens.

Safaris
A safari puts a lead guide in front and a sweep rider behind, then rides somewhere: a sandbar, an island beach, a marine park. Half of them include a landing and a swim, and most run in the morning while the sea is still asleep. This is the format that turns a fairground ride into a day out.
